Looking for a free patch program for your scout to do this summer? Pump up their history knowledge with a free Lewis & Clark Junior Ranger patch from the National Park Service.
My kids have had an interest in the story of Lewis and Clark, brought to life by visits to their camp at St. Charles, Missouri, and at their launching spot at Clarksville, Indiana, near today’s Falls of the Ohio State Park. And Seaman’s Journal, told from the perspective of the Newfoundland dog that accompanied the team, is a beloved book.
So when I stumbled on an online Lewis and Clark Junior Ranger patch program, I knew it would be something to add to my kids’ Summer Learning Challenge. It teaches them, allows them the computer time they crave while they research the National Park Service web sure, encourages their imaginations, and helps my third grader work on his writing.
My Cub Scout completed and mailed his requirements to the National Park Service and was thrilled when he received his Junior Ranger patch and pin in the mail.
